The Best Stylish & Comfortable Women’s Walking Shoes for Travel
See my choices and tips here for stylish and comfortable walking shoes and boots for all seasons and places to travel.
If you plan on sightseeing and running around a lot on your vacation and trip, you need a good pair of comfortable walking shoes or boots.
Traveling around means that you spend more time walking and standing than you usually do when you are at home in your normal routine. Therefore you need far better support and durability.
When you have a lot to see and do you don’t want to be restricted by shoes that hurt, fit badly and just hinder you along the way. You want to enjoy your trip, not spend your time dealing with blisters and hurt feet!
The usual problem with good comfortable walking shoes is that usually by far the most comfortable ones are not always the most stylish ones. But that doesn’t have to be the case at all.
If you have the choice between style and comfort, comfort really has to win every time. But I have researched and tried my best to feature stylish as well as comfortable walking shoes in this post.
What Makes a Pair of Shoes Comfortable for Walking?
A good comfortable walking shoe needs to protect your feet and have some kind of cushioning and/or arch support, as well as being lightweight so they don’t feel heavy and clumsy.
But you need a pair of shoes that are easy to pack and lightweight to pack too. You don’t want your luggage to be weighed down with shoes, especially as we normally take several pairs of shoes on any given trip.
Whatever shoes you choose for an upcoming travel tip, always try to break them in before you actually use them for the first time. There are very few pairs of shoes that you can wear immediately that don’t bite or nip you when walking a lot.
Depending on the time of year you are traveling in you may need enclosed shoes, boots, or sandals. It is possible to find comfortable and stylish pairs in all these different types of footware.

How to Look After your Feet when you are Walking a lot
I have made so many errors with shoes for walking on trips. I always went for fashion over comfort, and you very quickly learn that is a mistake! However hard that hurts when fashion means a lot!
But there are many things you can do, apart from getting the right shoes in the first place, to look after your feet when you are on a trip with a lot of walking.
Start Walking Before You Leave for your Trip
If you will be on a trip with a lot of walking required, and you don’t currently walk much now, you are likely to suffer immediately.
Start by doing more walking before you leave for your trip. The more you exercise the muscles in your feet, the better they will do.
Break your Shoes in Before you Leave
Don’t just take that new pair of shoes on your trip and wear them for the first time on your trip. Break them in before you leave!
Wear them on walks you take, perhaps even to the shopping mall or somewhere where you are walking a fair bit.
